In order to tackle the persistent traffic congestion along the vital Mehdipatnam–PVNR Expressway–Gachibowli corridor, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has revealed plans for the construction of multi-level flyovers and grade separators at the Rethibowli and Nanalnagar junctions.
This project, which amounts to Rs 398 crore and falls under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) initiative, aims to create a signal-free corridor and greatly enhance travel speeds. Out of the total budget, Rs 220 crore is designated for the construction of flyovers and grade separators, while the remaining funds will be allocated for land acquisition, the relocation of underground utilities such as water and sewer pipelines and power cables, consultancy services, incidental works, and the installation of noise barriers.
The project will be carried out on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis, with proposals invited for a construction timeline of two years, followed by an additional two-year defect liability period. The design of the viaduct is intended to accommodate a minimum speed of 40 kmph, with structural elements engineered to support speeds of up to 80 kmph.
