Under the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), a series of flyovers in different parts of the city which are part of 20 infrastructure projects being built at Rs 4,741.97 crore.
The GHC officials are constructing flyovers in Kondapur, Shaikpet, Balanagar, Bairamalguda and Owaisi Junction, with four of them to be opened to the public this year itself.
A GHMC official said, “The flyover crossing Seven Tombs and Whisper Valley junction, LB Nagar flyover and Bairamalguda flyover will be inaugurated this December.”
A detailed project report for 12 works which sums up to Rs 12,044 crore is being prepared by the GHMC and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority(HMDA) in coordination with the National Highways Authority of India(NHAI).
Among all of them, only two projects worth Rs. 661 crore are held up due to land acquisition issues.
In the last six years, a whopping Rs 1,010.77 crore was spent to build flyovers and underpasses. The works include nine flyovers, four underpasses, three roads over bridges/road under bridges.
GHMC officials said when the lockdown was imposed, works pertaining to infrastructure projects gained traction. As there were no traffic restrictions during the lockdown, works were executed round the clock, and several projects were completed before the deadline.
