A four-member team which was appointed to submit a detailed survey report of paying guests (PGs) under the Panchkula municipal corporation (MC) area have replied to the commissioner stating that they did not have adequate staff to conduct the survey.
The officials in their joint reply stated the it had become impossible for them to conduct a survey of the entire area under the municipal corporation limit as they did not have adequate staff.
The MC is now planning some other way to conduct the survey in the district.
The Panchkula municipal corporation formed a committee on March 4 which was headed by four officers. They were told to conduct a detailed survey of paying guest (PG) accommodations running in the district on ground level and submit a final report to the joint commissioner by March 10. Similarly, the fire department was also asked to submit fire safety report of all the coaching institutions to the MC office by March 10.
The four-member committee, including Sanjeev Kumar, building inspector; Surjeet Singh, patwari; Ravinder Singh, sub-fire officer; and Narinder Kumar, NULM branch, were asked to work together for the survey of PGs throughout the district. The survey was supposed to be conducted in the MC area apart from Huda sectors.
The officials said no one would be spared if they were found practicing illegal activities.
Deputy commissioner (DC) M K Ahuja on Monday wrote to the chief administrator (CA), Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda), and MC commissioner, to conduct inspection of houses where PGs were being run illegally.
“As per the rules, both Huda and the civic body can seal such houses in their areas where PGs are being run without prior permission from the departments concerned. Besides, complaint of running PGs in the name of keeping relatives or family members will also be taken seriously,” said the DC.
