The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has started the process of getting vacated housing units allotted under the rehabilitation scheme, which targets units where the real allottees are not occupants of the house.
CHB recently vacated a house in Dhanas after giving due opportunity to the occupant who was found to be living in the house since the original allottee died. CHB has allotted about 18,000 flats under rehabilitation scheme, small flat scheme and affordable rental housing scheme. These flats have been allotted for the occupation of the allottee and their families.
“There were multiple complaints that some of the allottees have sold/transferred their flats illegally. Since such flats cannot be sold or transferred, these instances may be clear cases of violation of terms and conditions and it attracts criminal case for committing fraud/cheating etc. The allottees who have illegally sold/sub-let/transferred the flats and the purchasers both are liable to face action for the fraud,” said a CHB official.
Property dealers, document writers and financers, who are involved in the illegal transactions of sell, sub-let, or transfer of small flats are also liable to face legal action for being part of the criminal conspiracy for such illegal transactions. The CHB has conducted survey of all such flats. The teams constituted by the CHB inspects whether the flat is occupied by the allottee and his family, and whether monthly rent/licence fee/installments is being paid regularly.
