A case has been registered against two builders and their associates for allegedly constructing a 10-storey building on a plot reserved by KDMC for a garden and night shelter, and preparing bogus building permission papers and selling the flats.
The Rs 1.8 crore cheating case was registered after flat buyers discovered the alleged fraud and finally approached the Thane Economic Offence Wing (EOW), which in turn directed the local Bazarpeth police to file an FIR.
The developers have been identified as Salman Dolare, Faraz Hare and others.
Police sources said so far, 10 flat buyers have come forward to file complaints. In the FIR, the buyers claimed the developers, by preparing forged documents for reserved plot number 3480, constructed the 10-storey Yusuf Height building and sold the flats.
Flat buyer Nisar Sheikh, who obtained building documents related from KDMC’s town planning department, alleged in his complaint that Dolare and his partner started constructing this building in 2012. To sell the flats, the accused not only prepared fake building permission, but also a fake occupation certificate to make it look like it had all necessary permissions.
