State govt on Monday approved phase one of the proposed Visakhapatnam metro rail project, covering approximately 46.23 km.
The first phase will consist of three corridors: Steel Plant Junction to Kommadi (34.40 km), Gurudwara to Old Post Office Junction (5.08 km), and Thatichetlapalem to Chinna Waltair (6.75 km).
The revised cost estimate for this phase, based on 2024 prices, stands at 11,498 crore.
Phase two of the project will add a fourth corridor, running from Kommadi to Bhogapuram, which will be developed only after the Bhogapuram airport becomes operational.
