Soon CM to lay foundation for Jaipur Metro extn on Mansarovar side

Around four months after former chief minister Ashok Gehlot laid the foundation stone for the Line 1C extension of Jaipur Metro – from Badi Choupar to Transport Nagar – chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is expected to lay the foundation stone for the extension of Jaipur Metro on the Mansarovar side by this month-end.

Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is expected to lay the foundation stone for the extension of Jaipur Metro on the Mansarovar side by this month-end.

Officials of the Urban Development and Housing (UDH) department confirmed that a proposal had been floated to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) to confirm the date of the program.“The former chief minister had laid the foundation stone for the Line 1 C extension on September 28, 2023 and work for the project had started. Now, we want to start the extension project between Mansarovar and Ajmer Road (200-feet Bypass Road). We had requested dates from the CMO for this program,” said a UDH Department official.

Jaipur Metro runs on a stretch of 11.5 km between Badi Choupar and Mansarovar. Under the Line 1C extension, Metro services would get extended for around 3.5 kms till Transport Nagar and under the Line 1D, Metro services would get extended for another 1.5 kms till Ajmer Road. Together, the Line 1 of Jaipur Metro would run for a little less than 17 kms between Transport Nagar and 200-feet Bypass Road.

The Jaipur Metro Railway Corporation had hired Delhi Metro Railway Corporation as the turnkey contractor to execute the project.

The construction work for Line 1C had already started. UDH department officials stated that they are now carrying out utility diversions – like diverting pipelines of various government and private agencies – to make way for the tunnel. The tunnel excavation work is expected to start within a couple of months. “The tunnel will be continuation from the Badi Choupar Metro station till a few metres away from Ramganj Bazaar. After that Metro will run on an elevated stretch till Transport Nagar Metro station,” the UDH official added.
