NEW DELHI: DDA to sanction plans online. Soon, Delhiites wouldn’t have to make rounds of Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) offices to get layout plans of their properties for building plan sanction or any other purpose.

The authority is digitising layout plans of the city, including the ones that are with municipal corporations and other civic agencies.

Vice-chairman Tarun Kapoor said that DDA had earlier given access to the public to scanned copies of layout plans for area planning through software. However, this did not solve the problem entirely. This is the reason why DDA needed to digitise the plans, check if the plan is correct in reality and put the information on a geographic information system (GIS) platform. The platform is to function just like Google Maps and users can view the details and add information too.

As part of the project, area layout plans would superimposed with the larger zonal plans after digitisation and ground-truthing. The digitised information would be available on DDA’s web portal.

A DDA official said that the web portal will show the land-use plan for an area as well as its integration with land and property information system. The official also added that all land plots will get a unique ID to help people to get directly to the relevant portion of a layout plan. Though the scale of the project is huge, DDA intends to complete it within 18 months. The work has been awarded and the digitisation process has begun.

The project is part of the ease of doing business initiative by DDA. These digitised plans will be available for free on the portal after registration
