2 Metro Phase 3 corridors get Karnataka govt’s in-principle nod

Ahead of assembly polls, the state government on Thursday gave in-principle approval for Namma Metro’s two Phase 3 corridors.

 The Karnataka government on Thursday gave in-principle approval for Namma Metro’s two Phase 3 corridors.

Phase 3 consists of 44.6km with two corridors: JP Nagar 4th Phase-Kempapura along ORR West (32.1km) and Hosahalli-Kadabagere along Magadi Road (12.5km).

ORR West Metro corridor will have 22 stations: JP Nagar 4th phase, JP Nagar 5th phase, JP Nagar, Kadirenahalli, Kamakhya junction, Hosakerehalli, Dwaraka Nagar, Mysuru Road, Nagarbhavi Circle, Vinayaka Layout, Papireddypalya, BDA complex Nagarbhavi, Sumanahalli Cross, Chowdeshwari Nagar,Freedom Fighter’s colony, Kanteerava Nagar, Peenya, Muthyala Nagar, BEL Circle, Nagashettyhalli, Hebbal railway station and Kempapura.

The Magadi Road Metro section will have nine: Hosahalli, KHB Colony, Kamakshipalya, Sumanahalli Cross, Sunkadakatte, Herohalli, Byadarahalli, Kamath Layout and Kadabagere.

A total of 11 interchange stations of both corridors will connect nearby bus, railway and suburban railway stations. The nine interchange stations on ORR West are: JP Nagar
4th phase, JP Nagar, Kamakhya Junction, Mysuru Road, Sumanahalli Cross, Peenya, BEL Circle, Hebbal railway station and Kempapura. Two interchange stations on the Magadi Road section are: Hosahalli and Sumanahalli Cross.

It has also proposed two double-decker flyovers — at Kanakapura Road Junction on ORR (Near JP Nagar Metro station) for a length of 1.3km and another at Kamakya-Ittamadu-Hosakerehalli junctions on ORR (near Kamakya Metro station) for a length of 1.5km. The construction of integrated structures(Flyover at level-1 and Metro at level-2)at
Rs 507.29 crore will be built by BMRCL with the cost sharing basis between BMRCL
and BBMP in a ratio of 75:25 respectively.

The estimated ridership of ORR West and Magadi Road corridors will be 4.6 lakh and 1.7 lakh respectively by 2028. The estimated completion cost is Rs 16,328 crore.
The depot has been planned at Sunkadakatte, which will be common for both the corridors.

The funding pattern under SPV(JV) model is 20% by Karnataka government,20% by Government of India and 60% through external funding. The value capture financing and innovative financing through private participation is also part of the financing plan, the statement adds.
