Telangana Govt. to build integrated township

The Telangana government will develop the self-contained township by promoting the walk to work policy which will relieve the city from congestion as per the new Municipal Act.

Various incentives are being worked upon by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&US) for the builders and developers who would propose townships on the outskirts of the city.

During the preparation of the Municipal Act, townships have been included in the act to help to reduce the congestion in the thickly populated areas and also to reduce the distance between the workplace and residences.

According to urban experts, the present density of the population of the core city is around 11,000 people per square km and will reach to 20,000 per sq km in the next few years mirroring areas like Gurugram. This will lead to haphazard growth of the city, experts said.

One of the senior officials of the MA&UD department said that this proposal of the township can also be adopted by the other municipal corporations in the neighboring areas like Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, and Ramagundam.

According to GV Rao, the president of the Telangana Developers Association (TDA), since the motive of the government behind this integrated township is to reduce congestion, the government should also construct infrastructures in the urban areas.
