Densification is the process of making the concrete more durable and abrasion-resistant by using a densifier. First the concrete grinding is done and then the concrete densifier is applied. It is cured for 12-24 hours and subsequently, concrete polishing takes place. The densification process involves the use of a densifier/ hardener. It is a liquid chemical spread evenly across the floor that penetrates the top surface layer of the concrete.
The silicates inside the concrete densifier react with the free lime [Calcium Hydroxide] in concrete to form Calcium Silicate Hydrate [CSH]. The formation of CSH is what makes the concrete denser. Concrete densifiers/ hardeners are an integral part of the concrete polishing process. Densification hardens the concrete surface and reduces pitting. One of the important benefits of treating your floor with a densifier is that it also stops the floor from dusting. It is practically a prerequisite for polished floor surfaces in a variety of commercial and applications including stadiums, hospitals, government buildings, airports, and factories.
